Jeroen

Our colleague Jeroen takes the floor

We welcomed our new colleague Jeroen in early June. As a child, he wanted to become a fireman, pilot or professional footballer, but he discovered a genuine passion for communication during his studies. Jeroen has been an Account Manager at Luna for three months now. Previously, he worked in marketing and communication at a services company in Overijse. Jeroen is an outgoing and highly motivated person, eager to develop his knowledge every day.

Let’s get to know Jeroen better professionally and from a personal viewpoint, through seven questions and answers.

1) How does it feel to be the only man among all these women?

I was alerted in advance! ???? It’s no problem for me. As a man, I hope to be able to offer added value or a different vision within Luna. In fact, I think it’s an advantage to work with women-only colleagues. After all, think of the famous line, from that James Brown song, ‘It’s a man’s world, but it would mean nothing without a woman.’ Food for thought…

2) What qualities do you look for in your colleagues?

For me, teamwork is all about thinking together, challenging one another when required and supporting each other whenever possible. Everyone should be able to laugh together, but it’s also important they can ask each other for help if necessary.

3) Any days you would like to relive?

None in particular. But I’d like to be able to randomly relive a day in my life, as an observer. It would enable me to see how I’ve changed over the years. Would I make different decisions or would I react differently in certain situations, by calling on the knowledge I’ve gained over time?

4) What’s the best film you’ve ever seen?

It’s hard to pick any particular one just like that. However, I’m fascinated by the true classics like The Godfather, Apocalypse Now, or Psycho, among others…

5) Can you describe your perfect weekend?

Most of my weekends are given over to my two young children. I usually go out with them during the day. Ideally, I’ll still have some time in the evening for more adult activities. I enjoy going out for a drink or eating with friends. I’m more than happy with that.

6) What is your favourite pastime?

I don’t like sitting around unoccupied. I generally have small projects on the go at home, either inside or outside the house. I like trying to give a second life to old items, such as a record player or a former racing bike. If I can tinker around for an hour in the evening, even if it’s not successful, I’ll feel as relaxed as someone who practises meditation.

7) What’s the best advice you have ever been given?

Someone once said to me: ‘Don’t worry about the future. Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.’ This statement helped me to understand that worrying will get you nowhere.
